I just got this little message today from a blog reader.
I was taking clothes out of the dryer, folding, etc. today. We are home , Nash has an ear infection and is feeling puny. He kept asking me to play ball, play ball, play ball. Today I put all the clothes down , put all my other chores aside, thought of you and baby Gavin, and played ball. Thanks to you and him for the beautiful reminder that time does not stand still , so grab it. Please send the laundry fairy too, when you get a chance...

So true. My house is a disaster but I am willing to make that sacrifice to cuddle with my kids.

My husband has always been the one to stop what he is doing and play with the kids, sit with them and just relax. I could never do it, with so much stuff always needing to be done, that is, until I experienced (if you could call it that from this end) what you and your beautiful baby Gavin (and your entire family) went through. Now I stare at my kids and thank God every day that I have them and I hear them running around the house. I sit with them now, and take time out to play with them... I've gotten to re-connect with my two amazing kids, love them the same way their daddy does and it's the best gift I've been given, so I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for that and I am sorry what it cost you. You are someone I look up to for strength and I admire, keep on truckin!

Each post that I read on your blog adds another dimension to my life. It's terrible that you had to suffer so much so that those of us could benefit from your new-found wisdom. I hope it is of great comfort to you to know that you have not suffered needlessly or without notice. We cry with you for your loss, but we also benefit so greatly from it by becoming better mothers, grandmothers, sisters, friends . . . . .I love you and I don't even know you.

I just found your blog recently, and wanted to share how you and Gavin have changed our lives as well. With my first son, I delayed all of his vaccines until he was six months old. I planned to do the same with my subsequent children...
I found your blog, and I just took my TWO month old in to get his pertussis vaccine. And I got one too.
