back in the saddle.

It was great to get out shooting with this guy
(aka: Richie's man crush)
a couple of weeks ago in Waikiki.

Mike, Mike, Joanna. . .
I heart each of you to the moon and back.
It did my soul good to be with such quality friends.
xo. N

If you follow me on twitter, you may have seen this next shot earlier.
Totally shot through a trolley as it sped by.
All hail AI Servo!
absolutely my fave of the day.

NOTE FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS:

Whenever I shoot with Mike Colón, I shoot Jpeg. . . because he's the boss of me?? I have to tell you, I cannot duplicate the color quality of a well shot jpeg image (exposed properly with manual white balance) in post processing software. The above images have MINIMAL corrections in post (basically some very slight dodging and burning in a few shots, and all have been sharpened for web).

If you really want to get a handle on your business, literally from artistic vision, to business approach, to technical solidity, Mike Colón's workshop is a MUST. You'll absolutely thank me later.

Wow! I wish I could shoot like you. I can't believe that there was no post-processing (or only limited) involved. Those are amazing shots. What lens did you use? Camera?

Oh NATALIE! These are absolutely gorgeous! I'm LOVING the color and quality of these...incredible. They're so WARM and beautiful. So many photos these days seem like a fad -- the way they're processed, etc. These are truly timeless -- a joy to take in. Awesome work!

love these....wonderful color!

(you must shoot canon. i used to shoot jpeg with nikon & spent a lot of time toning down the red. i was resistant to go raw, but now i can't see going back. i'm not hardcore for/against either one - whatever works best for each person is good)

These are gorgeous! Do you always shoot in jpeg? I still haven't jumped into RAW. And I'm actually afraid to.

Seriously Nat, you are Very Talented! Those are absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE the pic of them in front of the window that has the images of people on it. How fun to get to be so creative and have these fun little ideas come to you and then make it happen (such as the trolley too).

Your mind reading ability is amazing. As I scrolled through I was going to post a comment asking how you got such rich colors. Mine always seem to have a gray tone when shot in the shade (with natural light only).
I will continue to study and practice.

Nice Natalie! And thanks for the information. If we can get good shots from the get-go, it saves in editing work. Yes? =)

Natalie! I love these. We were so lucky to have you photograph us. I especially love the ones in front of the cardboard cut out people. I've never compared the benefits of Raw vs. Jpeg, I'll have to try it out.

Thanks for posting this, Natalie. I'm a huge advocate of jpeg shooting and nailing exposures in-camera. Your work is absolutely beautiful! Also, I've been considering Mike's workshop...and now am TOTALLY convinced. Have a fabulous day!

Love the trolley shot! How fun, and the pictures look fantastic:)

Can you touch a bit more on manual white balance. This would need to be changed for varying lighting situations, do you do this with the Kelvin scale? And how do I not be intimidated by the scale?

just wanted to add to your post processing faux pas but did not know where to: really, really white eyes.... unnatural, cheap and done but both the amatuer and pro. Terrible.
