so grateful for the little while.

interestingly enough,
this was our favorite lullaby.

I was admittedly always a bit disturbed by the second verse.

The other night dear,

as I lay sleeping,
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awaken,
I was mistaken,
so I hung my head and I cried.

you'll always be my sunshine,
sweet, perfect boy.

you light my life in every.single.way.

so grateful for the little while.

I sang this when I was still pregnant with makenzie, I sang it to her all 4.5 months of her life and I sang it to her when I held her body for the last time. I still sing it. I love it. Im thinking of you. Im praying for you. Oh this road we are both walking- I dont understand it. Maybe someday we both will. Im glad I know you.

My sister just showed me your blog I have been so touched by you your writing and your story. I wish I could have known about you sooner so I could have prayed for you. I am praying for you now.
I don't know if I could ever be as strong as you are if I lost my little Brighton.
Thank You for sharing your words.

That is also my kids' favorite song but I often sing that second verse quickly so I can get back to the more sunshine-y one.

i love that song too...and i've always thought the same thing about that song..although i learned the second verse a little differently (though equally disturbing)..
"but when i woke up...
my arms were empty..
so i hung...my head....
and cried..."

praying for you...and your little sunshine too...

I sing this to my kids, too...but I don't think I've ever given much thought to the second verse as referring to anyone besides a lover.

I love this one too but have issues with the second verse as well. And I sing lovely sunshine instead of only since I have 2 boys.
Still praying for you and your healing. You help me in my every day journeys being a mommy. Thank you for making me a better person.
Now praying for Weston and still praying for Bronson, WHAT A MIRACLE.
