Questions.

Looking to get better shots? (He he he. . .pun intended, don't go all haywire on me).

Aloha all,

First off, thanks SO MUCH for coming around (and for some of you thats around and around and around and I love you to the moon and back for that). Now that I'm blogging here as well as DPS, I need your help coming up with material you'll dig. What are you wondering about . . . specifically as far as photography is concerned. . .unidentified rash? Please go elsewhere for advise. What questions are floating around in your brain? OR do you just have a good idea for a post that you're willing to hand over to me? Please comment here with your wonderful wonderings, happy thoughts, beautiful ideas.

Yours,

Natalie
xoxo

I'd love ideas on posing larger groups of 8 or more, without it looking terribly "posed" or formal!

Also, some good manual settings, and in what situations you would use them. Did I say that in a way that makes sense?

I agree with info on manuel settings for real beginners like me trying to find out info! Like how to get a nice crip focus close up!!!!

I loved the topic of your last DPS post.

How about suggesting readers submit their photos for review - like a "photo clinic." They could provide the photo and you could give them advice on how they can take a better shot in the future.

I know I'd have dozens of photos to send your way. :-)

I would LOVE to know about different lenses! What size does different things/looks, etc.
ALSO, I know I've talked to you about this before and it's a tough subject, but indoor, no window lighting and what to do! Love your guts!

P.S. I like you more than friends.

I would love ANYTHING! I just soak it up! I liked the lighting suggestion, could you give more tips on shooting outside in daylight, where to stand, what sun to avoid?!?

I only have a regular digital camera (casio exilim) and I would love to learn different functions to make a reg. cam take fab shots.

I would also love to know more about group photos, manual settings and how about catching a great shot - tips or advice on what kinds of things to look for. I'm not sure I have the "eye" for photography but am trying to learn how to capture great photos. Or, you know... anything really, haven't seen a shot of yours yet that I haven't liked!

Yeah- group photos are sometimes awkward and always difficult. Please tell!

I would also like to know how to take great shots with a point 'n' shoot. I've been trying not to use the flash in my photos and have found success... except that many of my indoor shots come out a little grainy. Help!

Okay, this is probably a stupid question, but here goes.

I have 2 lenses for my Nikon D70:
Nikkor 18-70 mm 1:3.5-4.5G
Nikkor 70-300mmm 1:4.5-5.6G
If I want to take some close up pictures of little things, like maybe a ladybug or something, do I need a macro lens too? Or could I get very similar results by using my 70-300 lens on a tripod and just zooming in really close? I have taken some photos sort of like this that have been fine, but I'm wondering if they could be better with a different lens. My favorite use for my telephoto lens is to take photos of my kid from across the yard while he doesn't realize he's being photographed. I also use it when he does know and get really great blurred backgrounds. Do you know what all the numbers on my lenses mean? I understand the mm, I think, but have no clue what the second set of numbers mean. What type of lens is your favorite ? Thanks for writing such a cool blog!

Found you through DPS, and LOVE your work!

So here is my question. I can learn about how to work my camera from any number of places, but from artistic pros like you, I want to try and learn how to make my photos breathe and glow and come alive the way yours do.

Can you talk a little bit about how you get some of your great shots, like the engagement series? How you "pose" them --they are the farthest thing from posed, so that's not exactly what I mean.

And your color! Your processing is GORGEOUS, any tips you can share?
