Grief Project.

Hi all!

I'm working on a little project that deals with grief, and I'm wondering if any readers out there would like to be involved.

It's not depressing, cross my heart!

I'm specifically looking for those who have experienced the *death of:

an infant (including through miscarriage)
an older child (toddler-adult)
a spouse
a sibling
a parent
a close friend
a fiancé
a close pet

*death could be from natural causes, illness, accident, suicide, unknown causes etc.

If you've experienced significant loss through death, and would like to help me with this project by answering just a couple of simple questions anonymously via email, please either comment below with your email address, or email me at natalienorton{at}gmail{dot}com.

Email subject: grief project and the type of loss you've experienced so I can categorize them in my email easily. For example, "Grief Project: infant, 10 weeks old" or "Grief Project: sibling, 21 years old" or "Grief Project: ectopic pregnancy."

Feel free to spread the word. :)Justify Full

I love you.

xx.

Hey Nat, I passed your word on to Stephanie, but here is also her blog. I would love to help. I had a full-term stillborn. She died a day before my scheduled delivery.

(Also, email me because I want you to help me with my foundation called "project hope". I started it specifically for families who lost a child...it's designed to take their first family picture after the loss..I wanted to put a face to grief and do a book about the hope. That life is still worth living, and there is hope to be found..anyway, I found that I read so many books on grief but none about hope..and I wanted to see someone who survived and found peace.

So much grief/sadness out there! I'll be part of it if my circumstances are significant enough. I was confirmed pregnant for 12 hours before I suffered severe pains and landed in ER with a ectopic pregnancy. It was my first pregnancy and very traumatic experience for me, but most people dismissed it and avoided the whole issue with me.
Also, my beloved little dog died at the grand old age of 16 in 2002 and I've never been able to get another pet again because it still hurts so much. And I've lost 3 grandparents, one of whom lived with us for over 20 years.

My husband & I went through several miscarriages, my son was a twin and we lost the other baby around 5 months. I really dealt with a lot of grief through those years. However I was never alone and GOD really revealed himself to me. I look at my son and I am truly grateful for what an amazing gift he is. When we were around 7 months pregnant with him our doctors were concerned his head was not fully formed at the neck and was not connected. It turned out he was fine, he is the survivor and testament of all we went thru!

I am not sure if you just get use to it or what, but it does get easier to live with. 9 years later I still find myself in tears at times. Thank Heavens we have the gospel, families are forever. I don't know how anybody can survive the loss of a child without that knowledge. My love and prayers to you and your sweet family.

I lost two friends who accepted me unconditionally. 6 years ago, I lost my friend to cancer. She was the one person I could always do to and she would not judge me. (except for Jesus). This past summer, I lost my weimaraner, Rio, to heart failure at age 11 1/2. I know this is not as signicant as losing a child or parent, but my Rio was my other friend who always loved me. No matter what. I would be glad to help.

Hi Natalie,
Our sweet little baby Isabella passed away in October. Two weeks before delivery (a completely healthy pregnancy)they couldn't find a heartbeat. I am really interested in the project you are doing. Having a child pass away is the hardest journey to be given. I appreciate, and relate to the words you express in your blog. shaynjas@cox.net

Daughter Jenni was due in three weeks to give birth to our first grandson. My mother, her beloved grandmother, had a heart attack and only had hours to live. We called Jenni about three in the morning to tell her--and because of her profound grief, she went into labor at six am. At eight am, all of Mom's five children surrounded her bed and said goodbye. (She had waited for my brother to arrive from Denver, they do that sometimes). I said goodbye to my mom, drove a hour away, and said hello to my new grandson. I said, "Jenni, you will never believe this, but Mom waited for Kevin to get there". She smiled, in between tears, and said, "yes I would, because Turner waited for you!". I was there for her last child to help with the birth.

It was a sad and glorious day.

A new fan of your blog and your work, adding my sincerest condolences (for both your son and your brother) to the long list of those already expressed. Lost father (age 50) unexpectedly when I was 17. I'm 30, but if you don't need more recent experiences, I'd be happy to participate. Jules5329@hotmail.com

I am late in commenting, but would be thrilled to help. On Dec. 23rd I lost a baby at 18 weeks gestation (I had to deliver him & got to meet him). It was during my grieving process that one of my sweet friends sent me a link to your blog, and I have been following ever since. You really are amazing! It was my 4th child. It is truly amazing the instant bond you share with your child through pregnancy...nearly undescribable. We share the same faith, which is what gets me through those tough days.

Almost 5 years ago I lost my grandfather, who happened to be my only father figure throughout my life, as well as my closest friend. I still cry when I think about it. I would be happy to help if you still want it.

If its not too late, I'd like to participate. Three years ago this month my beloved dog Pedro died. He was a chihuahua. He was 13 years old and died of a dog attack. I had him since I was 9 years old (I was 21 when he died) and his death was SO HARD on me. I cried for days, cried harder than when my grandfather died the month before. I loved that dog and I never got to say goodbye. When I think about him I still tear up!

I would love to help in anyway. I had my son at 21 weeks gestation. He was too little to survive, yet I had hours to hold him, see his perfect body and love him. I miss him everyday. Its been about 1 1/2 years since he was born and I can't help but still think about him. You can check out my blog www.harrysinheaven.blogspot.com and email me at tamaw@msn.com with any questions you'd like me to answer. Grief, wow so hard!
