Photo Contest.

Ha ha! I'm really excited about this. Pics and Kicks. . . and by Pics and Kicks I mean ME. . . or "I" rather. . . I am hosting my first ever photo contest! The theme of the first contest will be

HOPE.

Now that could translate into a million different things to a million different people. So whatever that says to you, great! Go for it. Here are the rules:
  1. There aren't any.
You may submit as many images as you like. . . you can edit them any way you like. . . you just need to be sure to have them in by this coming Saturday July 26th. Email them to natalienorton{at}gmail{dot}com. I've got a team of judges who will review the images and I'll post our 3 favorites on Monday for voting. The winner will be featured on Pics and Kicks and will also win a professional, foam mounted 8x10 of their print.

Don't be shy! Give it a go!!
Have fun and GOOD LUCK!!

xo,

Natalie

Logo Contest Winner.

Logo Design Winner:

Congratulations to designer Tyler McBride! He's currently working on creating a custom logo based on the designs he entered in the contest. Here's what we're chewing on so far. We'll probably be changing the colors some and perhaps the font. . . we shall see. . . this is a start.

*NOTE: Tyler's website is currently under construction,
you can contact him at tyl[dot]mcbride[at]gmail.com.

Raffle Winner:

Jessica Peers of Arlington, VA is the winner of a photography phone consultation with yours truly. She can ask me anything and everything under the sun about photography, starting a photography business, blogging, motherhood. . . whatever she wants. . . hopefully she doesn't want to learn about optometry. She'd be plum outa luck.

Katie McBride (yes! Tyler's wife. . . I SWEAR this was not rigged) of SLC, UT is the winner of a free family portrait session and a disk of the images to boot! Lucky for me I'm already going to be in UT for the moth of June, otherwise this would have been one EXPENSIVE prize!

I am so grateful to all the wonderful designers
who participated in the contest!
I am also thankful to all of you who voted!

MAHALO NUI!

xoxo,

Nat

Logo Contest: Finalists.

Ok all! Thanks for your patience. One more round of voting!

RULES:
Here's how it will work. You can vote for 2 logos. One as your primary choice and one as your secondary. Remember that I have the final say. When making your choice, pick the logo that you feel best represents the following adjectives that I want my work and thus my branding to echo:

Fun
Original
Refreshing
Genuine
Timeless
Simple

Your vote on the logos below will automatically enter you to win one of the following:
- a free 30min sitting and a disk of my 15 faves from the shoot.
- a free 30min phone consultation: you can ask me any and everything about technique, equipment, business, marketing. . .you name it. Anonymous votes, though perfectly acceptable, will not be entered to win the prize. If you voted during round 1, your name will be entered a SECOND time in the drawing doubling your chances to win!!

And without further ado, here are the finalists based on the designs that received the most votes.

The first two finalists were submitted by Tyler McBride. Tyler's site will be launching soon, in the mean time you can contact him directly at tyl.mcbride{at}gmail{dot}com.

The following 3 submissions were entered by photographer/designer Allie Kemp.

The above is a set that would be drawn from to create a complete palette.

5
The logo that appears above did not make it into the finals, but I like it. So here it is. Oh, I'd change the photo to photography.

The next logo was submitted by graphic designer Karen Perreirra.

6
The above logo was not one that received the most votes but another logo submitted by the same designer was in the final group. Since the two logos were so similar and I liked this one far better this is the one that appears in the final running. If you're interested, the other logo was number 1 on the last round of voting.

The final logo was submitted by Matt Mildenstein. Matt's website is still under construction but you can view some of his recent work here or contact him directly at mildenstein.matt{at}gmail{dot}com.

Vote and Enter to Win.

How to vote: You may vote for up to 5 submissions (but not for the same submission 5 times). Comment with your numerical favorites in order of preference. For example let's say I want to vote for logos 43 and 50 if number 50 was my favorite, I'd comment like this: I like number 50 and number 43. Basically your favorites should be listed first on your favorite list.

Remember that I do have the ultimate say. Voting ends this Friday, March 29th and winners will be announced on or before Monday, March 31.

Post edited to include:I have decided to continue adding late submissions to the bottom of this post. Late designers will be at a disadvantage because they'll have less face time on the post, however no one will be turned away. Check back soon to check out any additions!

The following logo is a set that was so similar I thought it would make a good complete palette so I chose not to split it up.

CONTEST: Attention Graphic Designers.

Wanted: Logo for Natalie Norton Photography.
Reward: $100 cashola.

Boys and girls, I am having a logo contest. Yup, you heard me right, submit a design or 2 or 10 for my new logo and the *winner will receive a check for $100!

*You will have a chance to have your logo showcased on my blog (along with a link back to your site if you've got one). My viewers will vote on their favorite logos (but I have the ultimate say) and again, the winner gets $100!

Here's how the contest will work:

  • You can submit an unlimited number of designs. Most important is the logo, but if you'd like to you can submit a matching (ish) watermark for my images . . . if I choose a logo with a matching watermark, guess what, you get an extra $25!
  • Email your entries to natalienorton {at} gmail {dot} com (sorry, I'm trying desperately to avoid spam). Be sure and write "logo contest" in the subject line.
  • If your design wins, you have to be willing to forfeit all rights to the design. It will become the property of Natalie Norton Photography, but I'll gladly put a link on my blog back to your site if you'd like.
  • Entries must be received no later than March 22nd, 2008.
  • Voting will run the following week, March 24th-28th and the winner will be announced on the Friday the 28th.
What I'm looking for:
  • Creativity. I'm open to just about anything.
  • Simplicity.
  • I want something fresh and original. I am totally into a "Real Simple" feel, but not exclusively so. Let your style and creativity flow.
  • I'll be basing the color pallet of my new site off of the color pallet of the logo. . . so nothing too freakishly powerfully colored. My website will have a white background, fyi.
  • I want my images to stand out and my logo to be a classy embellishment, a beautiful afterthought on the page.
  • It needs to say Natalie Norton Photo. It can have a picture or just be text, but it has to have that text included.
This should be fun! Comment below with questions and/or to let me know that you plan to enter.

If you're not a graphic designer (or even if you are), will you be a dear and put a link to this contest on your blog to spread the word? And put pressure on your graphic designer friends to participate? You're a gem. Thanks so much!

*Post Edited: Prize increased from $50 to $100!!!
