If you get a stitch in your side while you run, exhale when your right foot strikes. Meaning as your right foot hits the ground give out a puff. You'll figure out how to time it so it flows and feels natural, but you'll see how effective it is. With in 30 seconds, it should be gone. (It's usually the biggest complaint with new runners.)

I'm new to reading your blogs, but I just wanted to let you know that you and your articles (and this place to) has given me the initiative that I need.
Your positivity is indeed infectious!!
I remember running 40 minutes straight (which is 3.2 miles to me) for the first time a month ago. It is such an emotional feeling, and I was in the same boat you were; thought I could never do it! It definitely makes you question what else you CAN do.

Hey Natalie,
I know you but you probably don't remember me. We share some mutual friends but also were at BYUH at the same time. Anyway I followed your story about your son. I was pregnante during the whole thing and it just had this profound effect on me. I've been spreading the information about pertussis to all I know. I don't know why it hit me so hard but I've been in this with you to get the information out there. I talk to my doctors about it everytime and ask them what they are doing to educate parents and those around Infants and children about it. I just wanted you to know I admire you and if there is any thing more I can do to help the cause please let me know. You are the best! Oh and good luck on your race. I might try it next year if I can whip my butt into shape! Aloha!
